Common offenses are carrying a concealed weapon, possession of a firearm without a license, engaging in criminal offense with a weapon, improper exhibition of a weapon, discharging a firearm in public, throwing/making/placing/projecting or discharging a destructive device, false reports of bombing, shooting or throwing missiles into a conveyance or dwelling, felons possessing firearms, altering firearms, aggravated assault with a firearm, burglary while possessing a firearm and robbery with a firearm. If you are charged with any of these offenses, one must be aware that minimum mandatory sentencing guidelines come into play as does Florida’s 1/20/Life laws. Some weapons charges in Florida carry minimum mandatory sentences of 3 years, 10 years, 20 years, 25 years and LIFE. An experienced lawyers will work with the prosecutor to reduce minimum mandatory sentences and in some cases remove them entirely. The Judge does not have discretion to remove these mandatory minimums. This is where the skill of your attorney really comes into play.
